Do and do not

Dear Fellow Journalers,,

Bucket Lists don’t always have to be about grandiose things/places you want to do/go. They can be simple things like be-friend a stranger, “pay-it-forward” (whatever “it” is for you). You could experience a sunset or sunrise. They are the most beautiful things we get to see and they’re free! Have you ever watched a Solar Eclipse? or gone star-gazing? How about publishing a book or volunteering to teach a lecture?

Why not start a list of 25 things you’ve never done and wished you had? Did you finish your education or did you stop to pursue other venues or military service? Ever wish you could play the piano? or take a dance class? You could be the next great dancer in your own version of “Dancing with the stars”.

There’s an ad on tv these days of a couple with a map on the wall and one dart. The girl throws the dart and the couple is off on an unplanned vacation to Paris, Texas. Ever wanted to act in a play? Knit a scarf? Live through all 4 seasons? Volunteer at a Hospice? Fly a kite? Conquer your biggest fear?

How about sharing your bucket list with a trusted friend or relative? In the movie “The Bucket List”, Edward Cole (played by Jack Nicholson) and the man in the next bed (Carter Chambers) (played by Morgan Freeman) share Carter’s bucket list and set out on an adventure of a lifetime.

Other bucket list ideas include going on a retreat (if you choose to do this one, contact me – I know a great place!), start a movement for a cause you believe in, get closure on an unhappy event, fly first class, fly in a helicopter (scary, at least for me) meet an author, visit a castle or learn sign language.
