February Monthly Prompts

Dear Fellow Journalers,

Yes, this is traditionally the month of love, but we know better. This is the month where we write in our Reading Journal. So these prompts comprise a little bit of everything:

~Sallie

  • When was the last time you said “I love you?”
  • What are your 10 favorite romantic movies?
  • What is your favorite romance novel and why?
  • Do you have a favorite fairy tale?
  • What personality trait do you love about yourself?
  • What have you read recently that inspired you?

I Love you

Dear Fellow Journalers,

I have always thought that this “poem” by Roy Croft expressed all that I wanted to say on this special day.

I love you, not only  for what you are but for what I am when I am with you.

I love you not only for what you have made of yourself but for what you are making of me.

I love you for the part of me that you bring out; I love you for putting your hands into my heaped-up heart and passing over all the foolish, weak things that you can’t help dimly seeing there, and for drawing out into the light all the beautiful belongings that no one else had looked quite far enough to find.

I love you because you are helping me to make of the lumber of my life not a tavern but a temple; out of works of my every day not a reproach but a song.

I love you because you have done more that any creed could have done to make me good, and more than any fate could have done to make me happy.

You have done it without a touch, without a word, without a sign. You have done it by being yourself. Perhaps that is what being a friend means after all.

Dedicated to my husband.

~Sallie

Month of Family and Friendships

Dear Fellow Journalers,

May is the month of Family and Friendships. In our family, May is a very busy month! There’s Mothers’ Day, my birthday, our Granddaughter’s Birthday (the day after mine), and Memorial Day . So we celebrate all month the friendships and family relationships that bring us love and joy.

In thinking about this theme, I first concentrated on my family and how we are all connected. Each of us comes to our family with our unique talents, experiences and beliefs. While L. is still a toddler, she too is forming her own set of wants and needs and it will be some time before we see her true self emerge.

In all things you create this month remember what makes you happy. Write each “thing” down in your journal.   When darkness falls upon your door, your happiest memories will always be with you.

~Sallie

Valentine Sentiments

Dear Fellow Journalers,

The following sentiments can be written to your loved one! Please feel free to share!

~Sallie

I love you more every day, you are my forever love.
Our love is the kind of love they write songs about. Thanks for being my love, my inspiration and my best friend every single day of my life.
Valentine’s Day only happens once a year…. And someone like you only happens once in a lifetime.
With all my love.
Right from the start, you stole my heart.
Good friends are like quilts. They age with us and yet they never lose their warmth.
My best friend is the one who brings out the best in me.
Friends are like eagles – Heaven sent.
