What is the real meaning of Easter?

Dear Fellow Journalers,

Easter has always been a religious holiday for me. My Mother made sure that we went to Church but then, realizing that we (all 4 of us) were kids after all, had candy baskets!  I always ate the hollow candy bunny ears first.

Now that I’m a Grandma my thoughts are consumed with the first easter egg contest and the dinner.

So I decided to share the best Easter has to offer to all of you. The poem is one of those pictures from my web site that everyone asks for, and the bunny card is another fan favorite. My Easter Bunny poem can be found on uniquelyyourscards@wordpress.com.

Whichever way you celebrate.  — Enjoy!

National Child Abuse Awareness Month

Dear Fellow Journalers,

April is National Child Abuse Awareness Month.

April is the month set aside to remind us all of the horrible and devastating effects of child abuse.

Few of us realize the terrible long-term effects that child abuse has. While we may be appalled when we see or hear about an act of child abuse on TV or in the newspaper, few realize that the act of abuse is only the beginning.

Did you know for instance that a whopping 88% of all psychopathic criminals have child abuse at the core of their problems? Non Abused children grow up with a view of the world that includes a healthy outlook that includes morals, social adjustment, and a belief that you must do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Abused children have this healthy outlook destroyed when they are either mentally, physically, or sexually abused. They look at the world as a place of punishment, and come to feel that it is “normal” for them to punish others in the same manner.

The only way to end this terrible cycle is for us to report child abuse wherever and whenever we see, or even suspect it. Only by removing a child from the hell of child abuse as quickly and early as possible can we help ensure that the child will receive treatment to counteract the long-term effects of the abuse they have suffered.

Please help insure a healthy, happy, well-adjusted childhood for ALL children. In so doing, YOU are also insuring a bright future for America itself, free from the devastating effects that we know child abuse causes.

END CHILD ABUSE TODAY! REPORT IT NOW! END THE SENSELESS DESTRUCTION OF HUMAN LIFE IT CAUSES! IT’S UP TO US ALL

For those of you who would like more information such as what to do if approached by a child who says they are being abused, things you should/shouldn’t do, or who to contact in your town/city please email me for further information at uniquelyyourscraftjournal@outlook.com

Scent of April

Dear Fellow Journalers,

I came across this beautiful poem by Marilyn Ferguson that I wanted to share with you:

Magnolia,tree in spring

Scent of April

The smell of sweet magnolia

Drifts through the morning air

The lingering scent of perfume

Is found most everywhere.

The lilac tree is blooming

True color in its prime

Its fragrance just like heaven

Aroma, so divine.

The sun is brightly shining

A cloud cannot be found

Bright blue skies of azure

With tulips all around.

The birds are gently lilting

Their song is warm and sweet

With thoughts of home and nesting

Upon the breeze they meet.

With grass so green and tender

A garden that’s been blessed

Daffodils are blooming

God’s beauty at its best.
