Dear Fellow Journalers,
During this very special and important time, our entire nation comes together with one heart, mind, and voice to celebrate the moment at the start of our country when representatives from the 13 colonies came together and signed the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776 in Philadelphia. For this reason ,the date of the 4th of July has been called the “Birthday of our nation.”
Traditionally, the day has been marked by song, parades, and fireworks all across our country. Yet, even with such joyful gatherings, our hearts will never forget those who have given their lives that freedom may still be the reality of our existence, and the pride of our history. Men and women of all ages throughout our history have sacrificed much, from the lowly farmer who took up weapons to defend his land from the British, to the soldier in Iraq today, they all deserve our respect.
God Bless America and its people.
Happy 4th of July!
‘Til next time,
~Sallie
