Dear Fellow Journalers,
There are some people who suggest that a prayer journal is a list of people in you life who need God’s help in some way. “They say” “Write the person’s name, their specific need and ask God’s help for them.” It sounds like a written prayer chain doesn’t it?
There are some people who suggest that a prayer journal is a list of YOUR needs – a type of venting process.
There are some people who suggest that a prayer journal is a listing of prayers, hymns or quotes that inspire you.
There are some people who underline psalms or passages in the Bible and re-write them in their journal and use the phrase as a prompt.
All of the above can be used in a Prayer Journal. Your journal tells the story of your life as a Christian and however you decide to tell it is okay.
How do you start? Start with a prayer praising God for His goodness and forgiveness for your sins. Ask God to reveal what He wants you to know and understand.
You should always date your pages and then list what is on your mind. Choose a scripture verse or story and write about it. If you practice mindfulness this would be a good time to stop and mediate. Write down what thoughts God is impressing on your mind. Finish with a prayer of thanks.
I wanted to share this tutorial with you today. It runs about 20 minutes.
