Dear Fellow Journalers,
This month’s journal is about challenges. Now, I know, we all have challenges in our lives. There are a lot of personal ones and work ones, creative ones and family ones. So it’s difficult to pin one down to write about that fits all of us. What got me thinking about the type of journal was a challenge that I took up several weeks ago. Someone on TV said that senior citizens would do well to challenge themselves to do something new if not every day then certainly once a month. It helps keep the brain functioning as it should.
So, after wracking my brain (pun intended!) I decided to write a fan fiction Story for publication about one of my favorite TV westerns called Laramie. Now, I have never written a Story for publication but I decided to do so now. This was a challenge coming up with a plot, outline, characters, dialogue etc.
The thing is, the more I got into the project, I found it wasn’t an awful experience. In fact, it was rather enjoyable.
Anyway, my challenge to you is to pick 4 things that challenge you and work on them this month. Along the way, we’ll discover Matt Cutts 3 day challenge, how to consolidate journals, tools to help keep you focused and read about Denise’s challenge.

I don’t know about you, but I sometimes want to run away INTO a book. “Some of the characters have become my best friends”, a friend once told me about a series of books by Debbie Macomber.
What about you? Does your journal reflect any book or series of books that make you happy? Here are a few new ones to check out:
The Goldfinch by Donna Tarry
A Kestrel for a knave by Barry Hines
I capture the castle by Rosie Smith
The Enchanted Apriil. By Elizabeth Arnim
Raise high the roof beam by J D Salinger
