Museum trip

Have you ever warned to take your children to a museum but had doubts that they’d enjoy/learn the experience? Many vacation destinations list museums as one of the top things to do.

When we first took our family to a local dinosaur museum, well, let’s just say it was not a great experience. The little ones got bored, the older ones tried to drag us to the museum shop. Our intent was to give the kids an educated and fun experience and hoped that their journals would reflect that. We also knew that dinosaurs would be studied in September.

We decided to do some research and determined to make visiting the next museum trip more fun for all of .US. Here are some things we thought of:

We looked for museums that had family programs.

We researched the exhibits on-line and created a scavenger hunt.

We bought sketch pads and washable markers.

We visited the cafe.

Allowance money was given ahead of time so that they could “check out” the store.

We let the children be guides.
