The Month of Kindness

Dear Fellow Journalers,

Month of Kindness

Whenever I think of the virtue of kindness, I remember a movie called “Pay it forward”. The movie debuted  in 2000. It was based on an American novel of the same name. The main character was played by Haley Joel Osmun. The boy in the movie planned a charitable program based on the networking of recipients doing a favor for someone else. This concept was widely copied all over America during Christmas this year. There were stories of people buying coffee for others, large tips for waitresses, and people doing acts of kindness in memory of the 26 Sandy Hook (CT) victims.

Have you ever thought if sending greeting cards to charities, hospitals, homeless shelters? I belong to a Woman’s Club called GFWC which stands for Global Federation of Women’s Club. There are several clubs in every town of the United States and around the world. The sole purpose of the club  members is to perform charitable works in their town and cities. We donate handmade cards to the VA Hospital. You never know how much your smile or gesture of kindness helps someone.

Courage and Hope

Dear Fellow Journalers,

The following 8 Courage and Hope Sayings “article” was given to me years ago on retreat. I kept it in my journal and want to share it with you. Please feel free to share.

~Sallie

Courage…

does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying,”I will try again tomorrow.”

Courage…

is not the absence of fear. Courage is the presence of fear with the willingness to face it.

Courage…

is moving into the unknown. It is leaving the past and allowing the future to be.

Take courage…

The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek. (Joseph Campbell)

Stress is…

an ignorant state. It believes that everything is an emergency. Breathe. You have everything you need.

Hope …

is knowing that you are greater than anything that will ever happen to you.

Do not pray…

for courage… for God has already given it to you. Pray instead to receive the courage that is living within you right now.

Dancing

“Dancing with the feet is one thing, but dancing with the heart is another”.

February Prompts

Dear Fellow Journalers,

Some of these prompts are rather “deep” ……………………..

If you had to be someone else for 24 hour, who would you choose and why? What would you do?

What ‘excess baggage’ are you carrying around?  Create a list o fall the negative things you would like to drop off at

lost property. How will you feel when you release them?

What is some of the best advice you ever received?  Have you followed it?

What does courage mean to you?

Today is Ash Wednesday. What does it mean to you?
