Quotes and inspirational journals. Help needed!!

Dear Fellow Journalers,

When I began this year’s posts on content journaling I was nervous. How would you, my followers react? It was with some trepidation, that the posts began to evolve and take on lives of their own. To my delight, I discovered that ‘you all” shared and commented!

It is in this spirit, that I come to you to ask a favor. The June posts will feature Quotes and Inspirational journaling. A lot of my quote journal contains excerpts from literature, but there are so many more topics out there! If each of you contributed 3 quotes or excerpts of texts with the source and your e-mail address, I will share them on this blog. So, please put your thinking caps on and share with all of us! I need your submissions before June 1st. You can email me at uniquelyyourscraftjournal@outlook.com

Thanks,

~Sallie

”   it is not by knowledge that we make our journeys but by hope and faith: hope that our walk will be worthy of our steps and faith that we are going somewhere. And only when we come to the end of our journey do we truly understand that every step of the way we were walking on water.”             Walking on Water

Memory Journal for Mom

Dear Fellow Journalers,

Sometimes it’s hard to find a gift for your Mom that she will cherish for years to come, but the memory journal is definitely one. To make this you’ll need a few days to plan out what you’ll write.

You will need the following items:

  • blank journal book
  • pen
  • your memories (see below)
  • collection of favorite quotes
  • small mementoes
  • glue stick
  • photos

Start by brainstorming memories of special times/events shared with your Mom. Some of these could be the one-on-one shopping, special lunches, Mother advice times, or if you are a Mom, the first time she held your child. After you have about 20-50 moments jot them down in a notebook.

At this point, you can decorate your covers. You can refer back to my previous posts for ideas. Start writing in the journal. I started my Memory Journal by writing a letter to my Mom and telling her why I started the journal for her.  I included the reasons why I enjoyed the moments with her, what I learned from her and included other family members in the particular memory. I tried to keep the events in a chronicle order and included pictures/photos with each event. That notebook came in handy because it took me several days to write everything!

Be sure to include a beautiful card with your gift!

Happy Mother’s Day!

‘Til next time,

~Sallie

Good Reads

Dear Fellow Journalers,

There is a book that I have on my desk to remind myself to do one kind thing a day no matter how I feel or what is going on in my world. The book “Random Acts of Kindness” is a compilation of short stories interwoven with inspirational quotes. The book was published by Conari Press in 1993. While I am sure that many more like it have been published since, this paperback speaks volumes about the human spirit and how one simple act of kindness can change a person’s life forever.

There is one story related by Mrs. Nat King Cole that really touched my heart. This book is one to savor and inspire you to practice Random Acts one day at a time.
