Paper Daydreams My first page

Dear Fellow Journalers,

Well, I have procrastinated long enough! You’ve seen posts about covers, what you want in your journal, what to collect and now is the time to begin! Now, don’t think I’ve been idle all this time- I organized, I’ve made Easter cards, I’ve researched, I’ve played computer solitaire – WAIT – does this sound like PROCRASTINATION?? Oh, yeah, big time.

So I took a clue from a fellow journaler whose blog I follow. I opened my beautifully created cover and stared at the EMPTY PAGE! Finally, I took the plunge and wrote “about me” with contact information on the first page. I figured if I really personalize my journal, I’d be more committed to it.

I started thinking about the act of writing and the pleasure I get when re-reading what I’ve written. I could do this. Whenever I got distracted, I looked at my focus page. Oh, I forgot to tell you about that!

When I was pregnant, many years ago, I attended pre-natal classes at the local hospital. The nurses told us that we needed a focus picture to help us concentrate. It had to be of significance to us. Now over the years, that picture has changed!  When I think of things that inspire me now, lighthouses, sunsets, beaches, children playing, nature – these things inspire me now.  Last year, while driving home from work, I saw the most amazing sunset over the city. I don’t have a camera phone, so I couldn’t take a picture of it, but I felt that I might find one similar on Pinterest and I did. I posted it just now. My focus picture is a beautiful picture painted by God, a gift for all of us to see and share. The beautiful blended colors remind me of my life as a wife, mother, grandmother, friend, volunteer, blogger, card-maker. It was a perfect focus picture and it also reminded me of why I was sharing my journey with all of you and why telling you my story is so important.

Motivation and Invitation

starting today

I am always inspired and motivated when I read a post or an article or see a pin that makes me think. I usually try to  incorporate what I read into action in my life. So, I am taking this advice:

“Every accomplishment begins with a person deciding to try what dreams and vision that they may have in their hearts. Instead of just being someone with a creative imagination, and just being able to dream, we have to try to live to become the person we dream about being.”

To read more of this post, please see J.Johnson on Search Quotes 3/17/14

I recently sent out a request to most everyone in my address book and while some responded positively, I wanted to extend the invitation to you also.

Uniquely Yours Craft Journal is looking for Guest Contributors to write and share their creative journey.

Some of you started your journey a long time ago. You met with obstacles, lots of hills and “slumps” and are still going. You have a lot of wisdom to share.

Some of you took up a walking stick (pen) and have jogged along quite nicely until you saw those two paths and are now trying to re-focus. You have a lot to share about overcoming those obstacles.

Some of you are new to journaling and want to remain anonymous because you are taking baby steps. You have found quotes on search engines and Pinterest that have inspired you. You’ve found other blogs and want to share, but are not sure to whom.

Whatever your case is, we all have things to share. Why not with us? My plan is to have you email me with your “Random Thoughts” or articles or pictures  and I will post them and of course give you credit. I won’t post your name or email if you don’t want me to. You can post once a week or once a month. Whatever you choose!

I look forward to hearing from you.

~Sallie

Journal Prompts for April

Dear Fellow Journalers,

The April Prompts are:

  1.  Write down 10 things that make you happy.
  2. If you could be a “time traveler” for a day, where would you go and what would you do?
  3. Write about your memory box.
  4. What is it about Spring that you love?
  5. You’ve just  created your best ___________. How do you feel?
  6. What does the word “courage” mean to you?

‘Til next time,

~Sallie

What is the real meaning of Easter?

Dear Fellow Journalers,

Easter has always been a religious holiday for me. My Mother made sure that we went to Church but then, realizing that we (all 4 of us) were kids after all, had candy baskets!  I always ate the hollow candy bunny ears first.

Now that I’m a Grandma my thoughts are consumed with the first easter egg contest and the dinner.

So I decided to share the best Easter has to offer to all of you. The poem is one of those pictures from my web site that everyone asks for, and the bunny card is another fan favorite. My Easter Bunny poem can be found on uniquelyyourscards@wordpress.com.

Whichever way you celebrate.  — Enjoy!
